Contemporary dance takes its roots in ballet and modern, but has more of an organic stance to movement. This class is a more expressive and grounded style of movement that lift the restrictions of ballet and uses technique to its advantage. Contemporary dance explores the possibilities of movement and the use of space, strengthening the dancer both mentally and physically. These classes are for dancers who like creative and physical challenges that require persistence and practice. The students will be taught technique and improvisation to help express emotion physically through dance. Exercises focus on increasing flexibility and strength, total body connectivity, creative problem solving and expressing personal style.
